MAP
The Changing Lives Male Action Project (MAP) was established as part of The Cyrenians in 2012. The project works closely with the Girls Are Proud (GAP) project. MAP works with men, aged 18 years and over whom are vulnerable to or are engaging in male sex work / male escort work within Newcastle and Gateshead and those who travel within Tyne and Wear. MAP provides an assertive outreach wrap-around service to address multiple and complex needs. MAP delivers a night time outreach service on a fortnightly basis and works with clients on a 1-2-1 basis offering intensive support and addressing the following issues;
- Silence and the double stigma of male sex work
- Discrimination and family rejection
- Chronic exclusion factors, including substance misuse and homelessness
- Exploitation
- Sexual and Physical Health and Well Being
- Crime, Safety and Police
