NEWCASTLE

GAP (Young gay and bisexual men's group)
A fun, friendly and safe place to make friends, socialise and be yourself. Open to all young men aged 16 -25 who are (or think they may be) gay or bisexual. The group meets on a weekly basis, offering a safe space to discuss coming out, gay men and the law, HIV, safer sex, relationships. Social activities and trips out.

OUTPOST HOUSING PROJECT
Temporary accommodation for young lesbians & young gay men (16-25) who are homeless or having difficulty finding somewhere to live.

TYNESIDE YOUNG LESBIAN PROJECT
A voluntary organisation providing services for young women 25 and under who are lesbian, bisexual or think they might be. The Young Lesbian Group meets one evening per week, in central Newcastle. The group provides a safe, supportive environment, where young women can meet each other and have the opportunity to talk in confidence about their sexual orientation and related issues. The workers offer issue-based group work and a range of social activities.

STREETWISE
Not a gay/lesbian service but open to all young people. This service is very highly regarded amongst young people and workers. Located at Bigg Market, Central Newcastle. Offering information and advice on any issue, sexual health and contraception. A free counselling service is also available.

TEENAGE KICKS
Teenage Kicks is a community-based outreach team who work with issues around sex & relationships. The team is made up of specialist workers who deliver small group work sessions to children and young people in Newcastle upon Tyne.

NORTHUMBERLAND

WOWI! (Wansbeck Out With It!)
Wansbeck Out With It! or Wowi! to it’s members, is a social and support group for young LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity) aged 13 to 25 who live in Wansbeck or the surrounding areas of Northumberland.
The group is held once a fortnight in a safe space in Ashington and run by staff from Northumberland Community Development Network and Trinity Youth Association.
It is a place to meet other LGBT people of a similar age, make new friends, to have fun and learn about some of the key issues that may affect us and people like us. We can also help you during those times when you may feel you need some support.
The group’s activities have included themed parties, Northern Pride, trips out, film nights, drama, making a radio programme, sexual health information, chill out sessions and there are opportunities to do Arts Awards or the V Award for those interested.

THE FRYERS
A weekly session held in Blyth/Bedlington for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered young people and their friends.
If you are 13 to 25 and live in the area we would love to hear from you.
The group offers a safe social space  and individual support for its members.
The programme of activities is set by the members and so far has included Chinese Cooking, Quiz night, Gay Film Nights, Birthday parties, trip to Edinburgh, discussion group, karaoke & barbecue at the beach.
Future events to include regional quiz cup, graffiti art, creating an arts installation, going to the footie!
