PARENT SUPPORT

This page offers information on various support projects for families who either have LGBT children or are LGBT parents. These are Local, National and Global.

 

PARENTS ENQUIRY NORTHEAST (P.E.N.E)
P.E.N.E is a voluntary organisation offering support to parents of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered sons and daughters in North East England.

Confidential helplines are operated by parents.
P.E.N.E are not counsellors but have been through the experience of learning to understand and support their own gay children.

A support group is held every other month (details on request).
One to One meetings can be arranged if required.
A quarterly newsletter is produced.
P.E.N.E will send out free booklets

 is a new group with events planned for future months. For Dads, Mums and Carers who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender and their children. Based at the Seaton Valley Children’s Centre -Western Avenue Seaton Delaval NE25 0EP. Family Fun Events to enjoy: Songs and stories, Arts and crafts, Indoor and outdoor play, Games and fun! Family Lives is a charity with over three decades of experience helping parents to deal with the changes that are a constant part of family life. They know that many people play active roles in raising children, from dads and mums, grandparents, stepparents and non-resident parents. Their role is to support all of you to achieve the best relationship possible with the children that you care about, as well as supporting parenting professionals. STAND ALONE
Specialised support groups in Newcastle for the Tyne Tees area running in partnership with Stand Alone, a national charity dedicated to helping people affected by estrangement.
There is a registration fee of £15 to pay, refundable to those in receipt of benefits. The monthly groups are in the centre of Newcastle, at Broadacre House on Market Street, with easy access by public transport.
They provide a safe, non-judgmental space to share thoughts, feelings and experiences with others in a similar position.
One group is for those living in estrangement from their whole family, parent(s) or siblings; the other for those who have disowned or become estranged from their child or children.
