1 HOUR HIV TEST
A FREE and CONFIDENTIAL 1 hour HIV testing service open to gay and bisexual men in the North East is available in MESMAC offices in both Newcastle & Middlesbrough and from Teesside Positive Action also in Middlesbrough.
The test is a simple finger prick test with a pre and post test discussion and results within the hour.
The Newcastle sessions are available every Tuesday between 5-7pm for drop in and Monday - Thursday by appointment. For more details please contact MESMAC on 0191 233 1333.

TPA are also now offering tests on a Monday at Chester-le-Street Community Hospital and Venue4U, Durham City.
The Newcastle 1 hour testing service was originaly developed by THT, Newcastle GUM and MESMAC.
The Rapid Test service (Teesside) was developed by Teesside Positive Action, the Department of Infection & Travel Medicine - James Cook University Hospital - Middlesbrough and MESMAC North East. 
FASTEST was awarded the winner of the PCT 'Partnership Working Category' for the GOOD PRACTISE AWARDS 2007 - 08 and runner up for the DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH 'Health and Social Care Awards 2008' for the North East Region.
The service also won the Nursing In Practice award in 2008.
