SLAP! The Great Debate, 3rd December

The Sal Lumsden Archive Project (SLAP!) is named after the late Michael ‘Sal’ Lumsden, an inspirational DJ who helped provide the soundtrack to the North East LGBT scene in the 80′s. The next event is in association with THE GREAT DEBATE: Were things better back then, is the gay ‘community’ in decline? Wednesday 3rd December, 7pm to 9pm at The North of England Mining Institute, Westgate Rd, Newcastle NE1 (Next to The Royal Station Hotel and opposite ‘The Union Rooms’) Entrance: £1. Speakers: Drew Dalton (University of Sunderland). Ken Mortimer (Northern Pride, Northern Proud Voices). Chair: Dr. Caspar Hewett (Durham University, The Great Debate). Share your views and experiences on whether or not “community” is an out-dated term for LGBT people in North East England.
